Here are the searches I’ve been found by.  I find it interesting what people search for regarding sociopathy, perhaps it will interest others.  By far the most interest are in the spectacular criminal sociopaths such as Rodney Alcala, Michael Swango, Stacey Castor, etc.  Perhaps because they appear so human, but their behavior is so alien.  I don’t know for sure, however, these visitors don’t usually ask questions.  I’m always happy to expand a post by spelling out “flags of possible sociopathy” if commenters wish me to.

It’s also apparent that many people are in court with sociopaths.  Also quite a few are dealing with being blackmailed.

One area I’m surprised by is the number of searches regarding pseudologia fantastica.  I believe these people are rare, as opposed to sociopaths — at any rate I’ve only known two (that I know of) while I’ve known tens of sociopaths (as have all middle-aged readers of these words).

Private message

This is a follow up to “It seems I’m being harassed”.

To the superiors of Commander Smoked Glasses:

Call off your dogs.  You should know that Smoked Glasses is on several video cameras as is also the cute blond with the throat mike.  You should also know that he is using two inside individuals who know me personally, one a sociopath, one hundred times more arrogant than intelligent, and the second a weak artistic type amateur.  These two clowns couldn’t pick up a quarter off the sidewalk without telegraphing to the world what they were doing.  They are the only reason I know the operation is still going on.

The amateur is the weak link.  I have sent more detailed paper versions of this message around in case of any eventuality.

From the Obviously-Just-A-Coincidence department:  the very same day that this posted, my cell phone memory was erased and a password was required for access, just a coincidence I’m sure.  OH, NOES! What about my hard evidence this isn’t my imagination?  Not to worry, not to worry.

Search: are narcissists attracted to sociopaths?

Absolutely.

All narcissists are delusional.  They have a delusional view of themselves and a pathological self involvement.  Sociopaths will mirror this delusion (manipulating the emotionally mentally ill is one of their highest skills) and they will make the narcissist feel the self involvement is normal.

Narcissism is actually a confusing term, there are at least three pathological types that I know of:  garden variety, malignant and rigid.  Rigid is the one I am most familiar with — the narcissism of Scott Peck’s People of the Lie, aka, the perfect, the mentally ill evil.  They have zero consideration for anyone else, their whole psychic universe is organized around protecting their perfectness.  This is why they give up the lived life, they gain total perfection.

The rest of us go through life with daggers of defeats, failures and regrets attached to our backs that tweak us now and then, because we have consciences.  Narcissists know none of this, never having made a mistake in their lives, leading a life absolutely without error (as long as they can maintain the fiction).  But the maintenance of this false world is exhausting, turning to sociopaths for enabling must be such a relief.

They are so lacking in empathy that they are often mistaken for sociopaths themselves, I term them one of the faux sociopathic states.  Joining with a sociopath mirrors their vast selfishness and disregard of others.  They often pair off with sociopaths to form an evil couple.

Furthermore, there is a phenomenon known as narcissistic catastrophe (at least for the malignant and rigid types).  The catastrophe occurs when the edifice of the false self is overwhelmed by reality, when the betrayal of their own soul is overwhelmed by their own soul needs.  At that point they are lost at sea, unable to recognize friend from foe, in personality meltdown, they probably feel they don’t even know themselves — permanent psychotic dissociation is an extreme danger.

At this point they need protection both from themselves and from sociopaths (for whom they are now like an artist’s palette).  I actually knew a rigidly narcissistic therapist to throw such a client to sociopathic manipulators.  Narcissism is that evil, almost like a personality virus that won’t allow anyone under their influence (even their own child or client) to escape narcissism to live a lived life, a soul life.

This nonsense has got to stop — you cannot betray a nonhuman human who is trying to play you — McGinniss, Malcolm & Bazelon

First let me note that “nonhuman human” is not a phrase I use lightly or would apply to all psychopaths.  However it certainly applies to psychopathic murderers of their own families.

Emily Bazelon:

Two decades ago, Janet Malcolm published “The Journalist and the Murderer,” her classic story of the story of a murder trial. Her subject was the relationship between the writer Joe McGinniss and the Army doctor Jeff­rey MacDonald, who gave McGinniss full access to his defense team when he stood trial for the death of his wife and children — and then discovered that over years of apparent friendship, McGinniss was writing a future best seller portraying MacDonald as a psychopathic killer.   In her brilliant dissection of this betrayal, Malcolm exposed the “morally indefensible” nature of the work of her journalistic tribe.  http://franciscovazbrasil.blogspot.com/2011/05/janet-malcolms-cross-examinations-by.html

This is total nonsense, Jeffrey MacDonald was seeking to play, use, manipulate (user whatever word you want) the author Joe McGinniss.  He was propelled by his psychopathic level arrogance and optimism (a mentally ill level of optimism is a flag of psychopathy, see Ronald Reagan).  Joe McGinniss owed him nothing.

I’m afraid these Silly Sallies don’t appreciate the reality of the situation.  I can only conclude that they (together or separately) are murderer groupies (these are the women who show up at murder trials, write letters to serial killers, etc. propelled by a psychotic unwillingness to accept reality, all males for them are ‘tall, strong and gentle, just like Dad’ — the truth is too threatening to their world), or devotees of a particular psychopath (cultlike followers and true believers taken in by a psychopath), or children of a psychopathic father (who never meet a psychopath they don’t love), or psychopaths themselves (who can’t stand to see a psychopath taken down by non-psychopaths).

In 1989, the New Yorker published a two-part article by Janet Malcolm entitled “The Journalist and the Murderer.”

In the article, which was published in book form a year later, Malcolm offered her skewed perception of my relationship with Jeffrey MacDonald–the subject of my 1983 book, Fatal Vision–to support her bizarre hypothesis that “Every journalist…knows that what he does is morally indefensible.” So numerous and egregious were Malcolm’s omissions, distortions and outright misstatements of fact that I felt compelled to set the record straight in an epilogue to the updated edition of Fatal Vision that was published in 1989.

There is no statute of limitations on truth. Even now, twenty-two years later, Malcolm’s fictions ought not to be accepted uncritically. I reprint my 1989 response to her here.

Search: “pseudologia fantastica do they know they are lying?”

This is a question I’ve pondered considerably.  My provisional answer is yes they do.  However I think they think everyone else is lying also.  For them this includes surgeons, pilots, tattoo artists and other highly trained specialists.  But this would mean that there is no hard reality to them, reality isn’t really real — it’s plastic and responsive to emotional wish.  From the research (A. Raine’s comes to mind) it seems their brains are radically different.

They are one of the few psychopathic subsets that I consider mentally ill and deserving of confinement in mental hospitals — not to cure them, which can’t be done, but to protect society.

Five Reasons To Be Concerned Your Husband Is A Psychopath

It dawned on me a few years ago that our rational lives are like a still pond and madness is the jagged rock thrown into it, creating odd ripples everywhere. And the most powerful madness of all, when it comes to the way the world turns, is psychopathy.

There’s a consensus amongst psychologists that psychopaths — with all their glib charm and grandiosity and the power to effortlessly manipulate — do brilliantly in business and politics.  http://www.huffingtonpost.com/jon-ronson/five-reasons-to-be-concer_1_b_861092.html

The author, Jon Ronson, goes on to list five traits as possible signs of psychopathy:

1. He was very gallant when you first met him, not so gallant now
2. He’s grandiose
3. He Had Early Behavioral Problems
4. He Engages In Promiscuous Sexual Behavior, and finally
5. He Spends too Much Time Learning How To Spot Psychopaths By Using the Hare Checklist

Why is number five there?  This suspicion is extremely damaging.  It actually leads to self-censorship by non-psychopaths.  Friends and acquaintances think my ‘fascination with psychopaths’ is very odd.  That makes no sense to me.  They are out there and you need to understand them.

The status quo (thankfully now changing) is similar (as I’ve written elsewhere) to there being a dangerous fish in all the waters of the world that is never mentioned.  That is insane and a failure of each generation to the following generations.

I believe the author’s point five encourages the public to hide their heads in the sand and works at cross purposes with his other points.  Why?

It seems I’m being harassed

Lately I’ve been experiencing some rather strange occurrences.  It seems I’m sometimes being followed.  Since it’s been 3 or 4 times now, I’ve decided to discuss it here.  The exact number is hard to know because, similar to when one is being gaslighted, one writes off the first couple instances as belonging to the just-can’t-be category.

It’s surprisingly sophisticated.  I seem to be followed by teams, both in front and behind me.  When someone is walking in front of you and keeping pace with you (by sidewise glances or whatever) there is something different about their walking.  It is not like a person walking purposefully somewhere or even like someone meandering.  This will last for blocks with the distance between us hardly varying.  Or an individual will pass and then fall back, repeatedly, again over blocks.  Or an individual will still be in the same relative distance after my spending time in a store.

More troubling is purposely changing my route and then finding, after a few blocks on the new street, that the same individual has appeared once again in front of me at about the same distance.  So there has to be someone behind directing the forward party.  Is there some kind of throat mike that picks up outwardly inaudible speech (don’t ask me why I ask this)?

Their leader seemingly is a middle aged man, with short brown hair, of medium height (5′ 9-10″), medium build with a broad face and smoked glasses.  He also seems to be something of a hothead.

I have photos of certain of these individuals which I have snail mailed around.

Just for the record, as someone who studies and deals with sociopaths I work very hard at never telling myself not to be paranoid — so I’m immune to that charge.  Only one or two of these individuals however struck me as probable sociopaths.

This has only taken place (with one exception) on the few days of the week when I have a predictable routine and route of travel.  So that means there had been unobtrusive observation earlier.

Why I would deserve such sophisticated (and expensive) attention makes no sense.  But there it is.

Sociopathic prosecutor urges “false flag” attack on Scott Walker

“Carlos F. Lam submitted his resignation shortly before the Center published a story quoting his Feb. 19 email, which praised Walker for standing up to unions but went on to say that the chaos in Wisconsin presented “a good opportunity for what’s called a ‘false flag’ operation.”

“If you could employ an associate who pretends to be sympathetic to the unions’ cause to physically attack you (or even use a firearm against you), you could discredit the unions,” the email said.

“Currently, the media is painting the union protest as a democratic uprising and failing to mention the role of the DNC and umbrella union organizations in the protest. Employing a false flag operation would assist in undercutting any support that the media may be creating in favor of the unions.”

Well at least he’s a good Christian.

Or not, the Ninth Commandment:  “Bear No False Witness”.  Maybe he really is a sociopath, words are only used to fool fools (in their world view) and they live by a code of hypocrisy.

All prosecutors should be brain scanned for sociopathic brain structures with the sociopaths being filtered out.

Can we say that arrested development in appearance (an age inappropriate physical appearance) is a sign of the arrested development of a sociopath?  I don’t know.  I’m not even saying it be considered a flag, but I would recommend paying attention to such looks.

Ah, those spectacular female psychopaths — Stacey Castor, the Black Widow Murderer

One thing I’ve noticed about female psychopaths is their complete and total lack of self doubt, they never seem to imagine the possibility of losing, of being seen through.  It’s uncanny — an utter and complete belief in their alternate reality.  One doesn’t usually think of psychopaths as being insane, but female psychopaths of this caliber and pseudologues certainly qualify.

Stacey Castor — nonhuman human, to stop the collapse of her defense against having killed her husband with antifreeze, she poisoned her daughter, framing her with a fake suicide note confessing to the father’s murder.

She was charged with intentionally poisoning her husband David Castor with antifreeze in 2005 and attempting to poison her daughter Ashley Wallace with a toxic cocktail made of crushed pills , vodka , orange juice and sprite. In addition she is suspected of murdering her first husband Michael Wallace
